Someone (who self-identified only as "AlterEgo") commented that some of the images I posted of American soldiers abusing Iraqi prisoners were not authentic. I confess I did not verify each image. For that I apologize and will do my best to verify them now, removing any images I cannot confirm. However, the fact that such abuse happened is not in dispute. American authorities have admitted to it and are themselves "investigating" what happened.

Even if a single one of these photos is true, my original point stands. Individual soldiers engaged in such inhuman acts should be tried for war crimes in a public forum. I can only imagine what nightmares the Afghan "detainees" in Cuba are enduring.

One final note... for those who regard my comments as being "un-American", please remember that blind compliance is the enemy of democracy. Going along with official dogma would be un-American. Those who voice their dissent in constructive ways not only advance what America values, they also propel the human race forward. I invite you to think critically and speak what your heart feels.
